Survivors of a mysterious plane crash, attempt to survive on an even more mysterious island

Lost - The Complete First Season
Buena Vista Home Entertainment

Nearly 50 people survive a horrific plane crash on a tropical island. That is the only straightforward fact upon which you may rely in this rich, perplexing edge-of-your-seat thriller from the team which created the ever popular Alias. This heavily loaded (though not enough to suit the most rabid fans) DVD box set shows you that Lost earned 2nd season opening 31 million viewership the old fashioned way; taut storytelling coupled with an amazing cast. There are old favorites; Terry O'Quinn as the Great White Hunter John Locke, Matthew Fox as the good Dr. Jack. There are new favorites; Naveen Andrews as former Iraqi soldier Sayid, the pregnant girl played by Emilie de Ravin and spoiled rich girl Shannon played by new magazine girl Maggie Grace. Our picks to become the Next Big Thing: The amazing Evangeline Lilly as the mysterious Kate and Josh Holloway as resident bad-boy hottie Sawyer.

The most interesting character by far is the Island itself. Each week brings another revelation and another tantalizing mystery. What is the huge creature that pushes the trees around when the sun sets? Was the crash an accident? Who are the Others?
